What is your favorite place to go in your city?

My favorite place in the city

is the kind of temple you can find anywhere in Taiwan.

I walk in, breathe in the scent of incense,

light one stick, bow gently,

and whisper a simple prayer.

I’m not there for ritual.

I’m there for clarity.

For a moment where my mind resets

and my heart returns to its place.

A quiet corner

that’s always nearby when I need it.
