各種怪怪的道路設計,讓用路人也容易怪怪的違規;如果交通違規算是犯罪的話,幾乎全台灣用路人都是罪惡深淵的罪犯
Various strange road designs make it easy for pedestrians to inadvertently violate traffic regulations. If traffic violations were considered crimes, nearly all pedestrians in Taiwan would be considered criminals in the abyss of guilt.
The traffic design in Taiwan indeed has many issues that may lead to violations by drivers and pedestrians on the roads. While traffic violations may not necessarily equate to crimes, we should prioritize improving road safety design to address the root cause of traffic violations.
Here are some issues related to road design:
- Curb design: Some sections of roads in Taiwan lack clear curb designs, leading drivers to mistakenly believe that stopping for a moment won’t obstruct traffic. However, this may force pedestrians to take detours. For example, improving corner space design and extending curbs can enhance pedestrian visibility while reducing lane width to minimize passive violations by drivers.
- Dedicated lane design: Some dedicated lanes lack separate branching or clear separation between driving and parking lanes, making it easy for traffic violations and accidents to occur.
- Speed limit design: Establishing authoritative pedestrian crossings and reducing the overall city speed limit would help improve traffic safety.
In conclusion, the government should legislate and regulate “road space safety design” to improve road safety design and address the issue of traffic violations at its source.
